Booking is now open for the summer term of Writing Workshop at the Birmingham and Midland Institute, and you can grab your early bird discount by booking direct before 1 April.
This course of 10 weekly workshops is designed to help you get started or move forward on a creative project, whatever your genre or writing experience. It’s ideal for anyone who wants structure and accountability and who’s ready to develop their writing craft. If you don’t know what you want to write, that’s fine, too - we’ll kick off the course with a couple of sessions to help you generate and select ideas. If you have questions or aren’t sure whether this is the right course for you, please get in touch and we can arrange at time to chat.
The workshops will run on Tuesday evenings from 6.30-8.30pm from 5 May 2026 at the Birmingham and Midland Institute, 9 Margaret St, B3 3BS.
Thursdays* from April - July 2026 at The Core, Solihull
These friendly, stand-alone workshops are for anyone who’s always wanted to write but isn’t sure where to start, who used to write and wants to find their way back, or who wants to bring new life to their writing.
Each session offers structured, playful activities in a supportive, low-pressure environment. There’s no expectation to share your work unless you want to, and no pressure to produce a polished piece. Instead, we explore different ways into writing: weekly experiments designed to reconnect you with your innate creativity and help you grow in creative confidence.
The workshops draw on approaches that help make writing feel less daunting and more playful. They are particularly well-suited to people who feel anxious about writing, or who’ve felt blocked for a long time. Whether you’ve never written creatively before or you’ve been writing for years and feel stuck, these sessions are designed to help you find a way in, and keep going.
You’ll discover how to work gently with creative blocks, feed your imagination, and develop writing habits that work for you. Previous participants have found themselves writing more than they have in years, experimenting with new forms, or simply rediscovering the joy of playing with words.
Each workshop stands alone, so you can join at any point and come to as many or as few sessions as you like.
Not sure if it’s right for you? Just get in touch with Anna via www.bwriting.co.uk and we can arrange to chat.
*Please note there are no sessions on Thu 7 May, Thu 21 May, Thu 28 May or Thu 11 June.
